Perfecting The Process
London Dry Gin
There are different methods for producing gins.
We feel that the best way to produce London Dry Gin is via the maceration and single shot distilling method.
We steep our botanical recipe in a neutral grain spirit for between 12 and 18 hours which extracts the botanical oils from our recipe.
We then rectify the spirit by removing and discarding ALL heads and tails which means we only bottle the pure, flavour-filled heart of our spirit.
Fruit Gins
Here again, we start with a London Dry Gin at about 95% ABV.
Next, we once again distil the natural fruit flavours separately to approximately 95% ABV.
We then blend the fruit flavours with the gin and let the product down to the required ABV using pure water.
We take care to only use natural botanical sweeteners and insist that ALL gins contain only natural products for colouring, with no synthetic colourants, E-numbers or sweeteners used at all.
Vodka
At Hooting Owl we produce our award-winning vodka in our bespoke Reflux Still.
This Still allows us to produce a flavour-filled vodka using nothing more than a neutral spirit distilled from a 100% wheat wash.
We distil very slowly… distilling the product no less than 12 times to produce a vodka of exceptional smoothness before bottling the vodka into 3 different ABV’s:
• Tipsy Toad Vodka @ 37.5% ABV
• Hooting Owl Premium Vodka @ 42% ABV
• Hooting Owl Veterans Vodka at 48% ABV
The Taste Of Yorkshire

North Yorkshire Gin
Inspired by the rugged yet beautiful North Yorkshire moors.
Did you know, the Hole of Horcum is amongst the most southerly place in Britain where you can see the rare dwarf cornel, an arctic-alpine plant usually found in much colder conditions.
Botanists tend to find these plants by looking between Heather & Bilberry two of our botanicals used in this earthy spirit.

East Yorkshire Gin
Inspired by the breath-taking Yorkshire coastline, our East Yorkshire gin combines hints of the sea (kelp) with botanicals influenced by the meandering journey to the coast through the rolling Yorkshire Wolds.
We introduce honey, dandelion, lavender, berries, and Hawthorne blossom into the distillation.
Dom was inspired by David Hockney’s The Big Hawthorne when developing the flavours of this floral Gin.

South Yorkshire Gin
Dom was once a Butcher, this Influenced the development of our crisp and fresh South Yorkshire gin.
We use the depth of flavour found in the famous Barnsley chop to cultivate the earthiness of mountain ash with the sweetness of liquorice and cassia bark.
An added hint of mint and rosemary combine to create a beautifully fresh, crisp, ‘herby’ gin.

West Yorkshire Gin
Drawing inspiration from the diverse city of Bradford, the hometown of our distiller, this spiced, aromatic gin contains a fine blend of earthy flavours which include cardamom, turmeric, cumin, cubeb and grains of paradise.
Carefully sweetened with liquorice (Pontefract Cakes) and cassia bark, this precisely weighed botanical mix, combined with the lovingly accurate way in which we distil our craft gins, makes for a very smooth, flavour-packed ‘spiced’ gin.
This really does evoke a curry in a glass!
